Lavender

Ever since I went to Provence in France for the first time I've loved lavender - the color, the rounded
bushy growth, the incredible scent. Lavender reminds me of the Mediterranean, good food and wine, relaxing and dreaming. I love to dry it and hang a bunch of them in my kitchen. Sometimes I put a little lavender scented pillow in my bed because it helps me to sleep better. Of course I have lavender in my garden and I plan to plant even more.

What about you?

We always have lavender growing in our yard. It's so hardy and loves the environment here. And I love its shape, its smell, its color and the way it dances in the wind. It's a constant source of inspiration.
Your photo reminds me of a lavender field we saw in the Cotswolds, England, last summer.

Die Farbe und die runden Formen reißen mich hier gerade fast vom Stuhl - ich kann den Lavendel geradezu riechen. Ein wunderschönes Foto !

Carola, as you probably know, this is a subject near and dear to my heart! I discovered lavender and lavender farms in Sequim, Washington and have been hooked ever since. Recently I visited our own local lavender farm and was very impressed. It's possible I may even teach a class there some day.... keeping my fingers crossed!

Lavender is one of my favorites too, Carola. I like the French variety the best and have had some in my garden for years. I use the scented sachets in the dryer for my sheets. Lovely!

Lavender in the yard, in my cupboards and between my sheets. I also have a herb tea including lavender. Wonderful scent! Lately a friend started sniffing on my dish towels and smiled at me saying: "This scent reminds me of my grandma!" She told me how badly she's missing her grandma and how she loved that scent while being at her house.

Beautiful Photo!!
The smell of Lavender reminds me of being pregnant with my first child, I had a lavender oil balm to rub on my belly to supposedly stop stretch marks from appearing.....Big Fail!!! lol
I still love the smell though it brings back happy memories :o)
