I almost forgot about Photo Art Friday this week - the wonderful place on Bonnie's blog where photographers come together and show what art work they did in their photos.
This beautiful Celtic cross I found a couple of weeks ago in the cemetery of Tomales, a tiny place along Highway 1 between Point Reyes and Bodega Bay.
I did some levels and saturation adjustments first, then added Bonnie's texture "one life" to it (hard light at 72%), then copied it (multiply at 30%) and did another hue and saturation adjustment. At that point I really liked it, especially the warm colors.
This is the way it looked before:
Which one do you like better?

I like the edited version. You have given it an old world charm that the original photo lacks. Lovely. Thank your for sharing your work with Photo Art Friday Carola!
Ohhhhh, I like the one you altered lots better. This is something I'd like to learn more of one of these days.
I prefer your edited one... the lichen really highlights it.
The background looks like a painting.
Love Jo x
I love the warmth and texture you applied to the first version! Well done1
defiantely the first - love the warmth on the cross and the grey texture in the sky
I guess I'm the only writer-not-artist here, because I like the original. The cross improved with editing, but I think the sky lost a lot in the translation.

I love what you did to edit this...the background looks right out of an Impressionist painting. Beautiful.
The first one is also my favourite...more depth, warmer. Enjoy your week-end :-)
I like the first one best with the textures, that adds a lot
both beautiful Carola, but I too slightly prefer the first one
Love the end result. Wonderfully creative processing!
You did a great job, but I have to say I like the original better. The colors are so beautiful.

Interesting. I like the orignial just fine. The second/or top is more arty I suppose.
You are the second artist to mention Tomales this weekend. ;-)
I can be perfectly happy with an original photo tweaked a bit, Carola, but when I add texture to it, I'm awed. So yes, the edited version for me, too. :)
the end process is intriguing... need to have some time to experiment with some of my photos.
