T Stands for Wine Country

If you think I have lost the ability to spell correctly because there's no way "wine" starts with t, let me assure you that I do know that. However, I have decided to play along with the Altered Book Lover's "T" posts. T stands for Tuesday and refers to posts on Tuesdays that are somehow related to a drink. Since I live in wine country, I thought I start with wine.

We grow a lot of wine in Sonoma County and I do have to say that it is pretty good wine. You can find many vineyards in almost every corner of the county except near the ocean. Sometimes we just take a drive through the vineyards - they look pretty no matter which season we have.

And of course the grapes are lovely as well. This year, though, there are fears that because of water restrictions caused by our severe drought not all of the grapes will make it. It seems over the past few years every year brings its challenges to the winemakers, be it fire, smoke (last year a lot of the grapes were smoke damaged) or drought. It is a hard business.

Every weekend you could visit a different winery for some wine tasting if you feel like doing that. We love to do that when out of town friends or family come to visit, like some of our family members from Turkey a few years ago.

The Geek and I sometimes do some wine tasting and love it when food pairing is involved. However, due to the pandemic we haven't done any wine tasting in a long time.

So we just drink our wine at home.

Cheers!

It is SO good to see you joining us for T Carola. And even better to see your smiling face. Wine is a perfectly acceptable drink to share for T. Of course, I've not seen the vineyards featured before, so this is a wonderful thing to share with us. I can't believe how many different types of vineyards there are. I was blown away by your incredible photos of wine, wine tasting parties, and the very different vineyards, and the grapes that eventually are turned into wine. Thank you so much for taking us to wine country and sharing your wonderful wines with us for T this almost Tuesday. I look forward to you joining us in the future, too, dear.

I don't like wine but your photographs are gorgeous! Hope you get to do your wine tasting again soon.

I enjoyed reading about the vineyards today Carola. It's so dry in California, isn't it? The family friends in my post were telling us about it. (And we have had so much rain, especially in July.) I suppose the vineyards can't do a lot of watering. Your photos of the vineyards are wonderful, and I also love seeing the photos of you at home. Cheer to you also, and I was so happy to see you joined us for T this week. Have a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika

You are so lucky to live in that beautiful part of the country. Love ALL your great pictures. We have a few wineries in Alabama, but they are baby ones and the wine is marginal (always fun to visit anyway). Very fun to see you join us for Tday - have a happy one!

You made me laugh right away :-) But... shouldn´t you be a beer-fan? Not that there is a "T" in there, either.

Looks like Tuscany. Lovely pics of you two! You sure look very happy with the wine. If I may say so.... cute :-)
Cheers!

You are right. The vines look good at every season. And I love that you continue to support the hard work that goes into making wine.

Lovely scenery in the vineyards. The wine tastings must be fun. There are a few vineyards here in Massachusetts, but I've never visited them. Happy T Day

Hello Carola, lovely to 'meet' you.
I live in a wine country too (Spain) and I too love to see well tended vines. They don't do wine tasting here as far as I know. I've never seen it. Our village has one wine grower called Villaplano. Because of the altitude grapes need hardly any spraying as the usual bug and blight that threaten the grape don't thrive at this altitude.
I would like to compliment you on your photography. Your photoss are really stunning.
I hope to see you again on this T-Party,
I raise a glass (white in this case) to you,
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

I love to visit wineries. We had a trip scheduled to California last March and then Covid hit. I was looking forward to visiting a few wineries while there. Perhaps in the future!

I love California wine country, and have been very sad when the various disasters have occurred there. Thank you for the lovely photos and reminders of our wonderful trips in better years.

Cheers to you both, Carola. We also enjoy wine with dinner several times a week. This was a very nice tribute to wine with great photos. When we visited friends in Oregon a few years ago, they took us on a tour of some vineyards in their area and like yourselves they also enjoy wine tastings which unfortunately have also been reduced.

These shots are all gorgeous but that first one is a stunner. It could be on a brochure/catalogue or hanging in a vineyard tasting room!
