Sunday Mornings

The view from my front door

Yesterday we had a very slow Sunday and I realized how much I love these Sunday mornings without any agenda. Sunday is the only day in the week when neither the Geek nor I have to leave for work. There are Sundays when we get up early and go on a hike or spend the day at the ocean. But we also love to just stay at home, and it is especially these Sunday mornings that I particularly like.

At this time of the year when the days are getting longer and it's getting light much earlier, the morning sun hits my kitchen window, which faces north-north-east. I love when the shelves that are my pantry lit up in those early rays of the spring sun.

The same goes for the things on the kitchen window sill and the Moroccan lights on the porch. I just love the warm light.

On colder mornings I sit inside, reading the paper, enjoying the article about the arrival of a healthy Southern white rhino baby at our wildlife preserve that we have been waiting for the past couple weeks, or I'm busy knitting. I always have a project on my knitting needles. Here I'm making on of the birds hats for my shop, with the matching stitch marker. It's a good time to chat with the Geek.

There are always flowers on the dining table. These are tulips from the farmers market.

When the weather is pleasant I love to be outside. Very often when I walk through my garden, I weed a bit or cut something back or am all excited when I discover something new. Seeing more and more California poppies blooming is always reason for joy.

Other times I sit at the small garden table and write in my journal with a cup of coffee close by. The coffee, of course, is for our drinks party that is hosted every Tuesday by Bleubeard and Elizabeth.

The Canada geese have been very active recently and often I see them in big flocks flying over our neighborhood. It's always a sight (and a sound) to behold.

Do you enjoy slow Sunday mornings or are you much busier?

A slow Sunday is my very favorite thing. It's my way of recharging for the week ahead :)

I'm with you when it comes to slow Sunday mornings. Even though I no longer get up for work during the week, my husband does so mornings don't seem quite so slow. I must say when the weather is good I enjoy an early Sunday morning walk as there is little to no traffic on my road, which doesn't happen during the work week. Your tulips and all the spring flowers are just gorgeous too. And your knitter looks great too. I love to knit but for the past few months I can't say I've been doing much of it, for a switch. I guess we all go through phases doing different things. I hope you have a lovely T day Carola and week ahead too. Hugs-Erika

Sunday morning is a magical time, even when we are retired. It used to be time for newspapers (but now we read the stories as they are published throughout the week). “Sunday Morning” is the name of a wonderful fountain/sculpture by the artist Carl Milles. It’s also the name of a long poem by Wallace Stevens. So much meaning packed into that time.

The California poppy is beautiful! It is lovely that you keep flowers on your table. We only have them for special occasions. Maybe if I would find pretty ones at a farmers' market somewhere, I would keep them, too. Lovely cup of coffee in your Yosemite mug. Oh, and we get a lot of Canada geese here. We do not like them as they leave poop behind everywhere. We have a pond across the street from us, and they frequent it, and come across to visit our yard, too. Happy T Day

All these photos are beautiful. My favourite is the last one with a flock of birds. Sundays are not so slow for me. But, I like slow Sunday mornings when I have a chance.
Happy T Day!

Beautiful scenes! I have some yellow and white tulips on my table right now, too :-)

It's the time of year when wandering the garden is sure to reveal something new every day, and it is truly a joy. I know what you mean about having time to truly attend to all the that we ourselves have nurtured and created and arranged, in our personal environments. I crave those days at home, when I don't have to go anywhere.

So schön wie bei euch sieht es noch lange nicht aus.
Kann nur besser werden :-)

Your slow day looks and sounds blissful - and restorative.

Since I retired every day is potentially a slow Sunday morning, and we do enjoy them when it happens. But I equally love to be out and about in the world, and nature always has pleasant surprises in store. Yesterday, for example, a Northern Cardinal came as near as damn it to landing on my hand. This was in an area where we often hand-feed chickadees and nuthatches and perhaps the cardinal too is realizing that no harm will come to it. All the best - David

Liebe Carola,
Alles Liebe, Traude 😘

Even though I don't work anymore, I still love Sunday mornings. We always have a nice breakfast and it's just a mellow day. I love the early morning sun, too, and how it lights the room. It looks like your Sunday was absolutely beautiful. Relaxed. Peaceful. And beautifully documented!

Beautiful scenes and description. One of the joys of being semi-retired is a much slower pace not only on weekends, but during the week as well. It's nice to be able to take the time and smell the flowers if we want to. The view outside your door is gorgeous. Happy T Day

I would love a lazy Sunday, but in my life that's not going to happen. If I'm not out anywhere, I will be attending church. Of course that is not compulsary but I love worshipping with my 'brothers and sisters'.
Your photos are always so beautiful. You are a good photographer. and I enjoy looking at them.
I love to see your knitting. Those hats are really lovely. (and a matching bird marker).
Happy T-Day (belated)
Hugs,
Lisca

I love your photos of your yard and view from your front door. You truly have the home with the lovely picket fence.

What lovely images of your kitchen shelves and window sill. I can tell you love your Sundays.

WOW, you are a good knitter. I can no longer knit OR crochet because my hands go to sleep when I try. I have no pinch grip.

I am a bit jealous about your CA poppies. I've planted seed several times to no avail.

LOVE that mug. I like Bear Crossing! Thanks for sharing your Sunday mornings and your coffee with us for T this week, dear Carola. In case you didn't see today's post, there was a power outage in my neighborhood and I ws without power for nearly 24 hours, which is why I'm late visiting.

It's always wonderful to have at least one slow day in the week to recover.
Love your tulips on the table. They look beautiful! And the poppies are one of my favorite flowers. Bright and sunny.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
