Made in Germany 39

Germany is full of lovely trees. We have many many forests all over the country, but what I really love are the lone trees. Especially in the winter they can be stunning when you see just the branches against the sky. Sure, I do love trees with all their leaves on, when the wind rustles through them and they give shade on a hot and sunny day. However, the mood of the silhouette of a winter tree is unique, it has a touch of melancholy.

The picture of this tree was taken on the Schwäbische Alb, a very hilly region close to Tübingen where I lived before moving to the States. I used to go up there on the weekends for long hikes in all seasons. Winter was my favorite one (no, I was never afraid to drive in the snow).

I used Kim Klassen's texture "wonderfulmagic_stars" for this photo.

Did I tell you we were in Düsseldorf for the Weihnachtsmarkt a week ago Saturday? I LOVE Germany, Carola. I love your lone tree.

This is so beautiful, Carola. You're right about lone trees. They have a character and a voice lacking in forest trees.
Wishing you and your family all the best of the holiday season,

Hi Carola, no, I have not fallen off the face of the earth! "-) Just felt like I hadn't much to say on my blog of late. So unusual for me to be so "speechless". Anyway, love your photo. We have a tree just like that in my neighborhood, a place that I like to walk my dog. Lone trees really are lovely. I noticed that someone commented that they had been here in Germany in Düsseldorf at the Weihnachtsmarkt. My daughter was too just this week, we have been visiting the small town ones. Such fun! Only here in Germany!! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas. ~Debby

Trees in the Winter take a whole different persona. They seem as if they are communicating directly to the heavens with their leave less branches. Beautiful photograph, Carola :-)

I love trees too, i love them all year round but there is something special in winter when they shoe their 'bones'. I love what you have done to this photo with Kim's texture. Have a wonderful Christmas.
