After a few weeks of break we're back at Bonnie's Photo Art Friday. For this week, Bonnie asked us to share one of our favorite pieces of photo art from 2011.
Oh the choices. There were so many that I really like, but I have already posted them here and I don't want to bore you with repeat photos. However, I found one that I edited in PSE from an older slide that I took sometime in the early nineties. The texture I used is Kim Klassen's "kkluminous". It is not my best photo art, but I love the mood in it and it reminds me of the times when I was still living on my own and bought myself some fresh flowers at the farmers market every weekend. This must have been taken in May or June, the time when peonies bloom in Germany. Dark red peonies like the ones in the photo belong to me very favorite flowers. They look wonderful by themselves, but are absolutely stunning when you pair them with blue delphinium or purple lupines.

What a wonderful idea, buying flowers for yourself every week when you lived alone. I wish I had done that. (Maybe I'll have to start doing it again, even though I'm married. LOL)
Beautiful photo, Carola. And I hope the year 2012 is being good to you.
All the best,
K
I used to buy flowers when I was on my own it cheered me up to no end, now I can pick them from my garden. I like your photograph and the treatment.
I think it's beautiful! And I love how it brings you back to a different place and time in your life.

It's funny what we think of as 'best', I find this image very appealing I have it next to the comment box as I type! I like the way the flowers just lay so casually on the table, this gives the image an air of immediacy, now, just ready to spend time loving them as you go to get your vase. Also the background supports the flowers without too much distraction, just a hint of text. The table adding contrast of just the right proportions and composition to my eye is balanced. I hope you like my little critique, I consider this as one of your 'best' images!

I love working with flowers, PS and textures, at the moment I make a lot of inspirational quote cards.

I am lucky to have a lovely husband who often buys me flowers.

one of my fave flowers too, this is a great work of art, the colours and processing are just right :)
Lovely photo and great use of texture - makes it so soft and appealing. Love those red peonies; we seem to see only the pink or white ones! Happy 2012.
Carola, this is gorgeous. I can see this enlarged and hanging on a wall for all to see.
