WeekWord: Book

For ages I haven't participated in WeekWord. I wanted to last week, but totally missed out. So this week I actually managed to join in - no wonder, the word is irresistible. It's book.

If I have an addiction, it's books. I love books. I can't imagine a world without books. Places like book stores and libraries are magic for me. I can easily spend hours in them, totally losing track of time. Sitting on my bench in the garden, getting lost in a story - is there anything better? I like the smell of books, the feel in the hand - I don't think I can ever be happy with a kindle. It has to be a real book. Yes, call me old-fashioned, I take that as a compliment.

I like really good fiction,

biographies (these are all about women... hm...),

non-fiction,

books about gardening,

the art and photography stuff,

and, of course, my scrapbooks!

Go check out at Sow and Sew what others have to say about books!

Another bookworm here! Heaven is a bookshop with a coffee shop attached, and a whole day to potter in it. Like your collections - is there a little cyber space somewhere, where I could come and read?

I love to read too, but lately feel like it's a guilty pleasure. Don't ask me why. I see we share some of the same art books. :-) When you have time, stop back my blog, as I have a gift for you at this post:

I love all your books and there are so many titles there to interest me. I must confess that DH now has a Kindle, and really loves it, but he uses it for travelling and hospital visits and still reads REAL books most of the time.
Thanks for your comment, I've been on holiday in Devon so my post was scheduled and now I'm catching up. The littl'un is responding well with good blood results but infections keep knocking her back. Thanks for caring!

Yah, we are both back to Weekwording together!! I loved your bookshelf tour and always enjoy looking at other people's books-it's a little window into who they are for me. Books are my first friends and so much a part of me I'm not comfortable without them nearby-probably why I ended up in education :) Missed you!

What an eclectic collection of books and your photographs just seem to capture their wonderful energy.

Great tour of your bookshelves. I feel exactly the same about books and no kindle will ever replace the real thing for me. I surround myself with books and have a mini-library in almost every room - even the upper landing houses a beautiful mahogany bookcase full of them. Thanks for sharing. Elizabeth x

I LOVE books, Carola, especially looking at the ones in these images to see what you're reading. I got rid of an entire library when I packed up and moved here to The Netherlands. It was one of the hardest things I did in the move. Many books sold on Amazon, com, so that was nice. But I gave my entire theology collection to a used bookstore nearby. Some good books there for someone.

Right now my DVD collection is bigger than my book collection, which is saying something about where I am in my life right now. I spend my free time processing photos from trips near and far. Then with Astrid, we watch movies! Maybe books will come back one of these days/years?

mmmm You have a few of my books on your shelves ;-) I don't think I could ever do Kindle either; I just like my old books too much!

What a library! I love your collections and photos capturing them - I love to read too, but I don't think I'm as diverse... interesting titles. I would love to read each one (and I have read many) if I had the time - maybe in retirement? LOL

I just knew you were a reader! I think I got a hint of your love of books when I saw the post of the Geek & your daughter seated at the sewing machine! I believe they were in front of a bookcase?
I appreciate that you included your scrapbooks as part of your book stack...

Wow. My mouth is watering at those glimpses of your shelves. Literally - I'm salivating! What intruiging titles some of those are; I shall have to look some of them up!

I love looking at bookshelves when I visit people and getting a sense of them as people - from what you've shown us, I think I'd like you!
