Paint Party Friday

I wasn't that creative this week - at least not in my studio. I worked a lot in the garden - something I thoroughly enjoy and that usually puts me in an excellent mood. Neighbor's cat kept me company, sniffing at the paydirt and new plants that were supposed to go in the ground.

However, I started a new canvas; it will be another girl, one who loves dogs. I have no idea how to paint dogs, but since this is mixed media anyway I will probably get help in form of stickers etc. It will work out somehow.

I think I need to tone down the colors a little bit, it looks too busy to me, but perhaps that will already be different when I will have finished the girl figure. She is still pretty raw and very "innocent".

This is my entry for the wonderful Paint Party Friday and I also link this to Jennifer's Studio Sneak Peek.

Carola ... I think you are off to a very good start. I love the colors, wouldn't tone it down yet. Your girl is looking good - is that real denim? Girl who loves dogs could be me ... give her long brown, flowing crazy hair (I used to have that). Seriously, looking forward to your end result. Enjoy the journey!

I really like your girls! And this background is so rich (as always!) - thanks so much for coming by my place! I think it is so funny that she loves the ladies and the handcrafts...most of them are in the age range of 70 to 90! And they do the BEST handwork!

Blessings...

I haven't checked out how to draw dogs but I'm sure somewhere out there in never never land of internet is someone that's shows you how to draw a doggie and if not, stickers will do just fine and you can add some textures and paint to make the dog look like its painted. So far I like what you have done.

My cats consider it their duty to help me in the garden too!

Great beginning! Isn't is fun how art is like gardening? Fist the seed (idea) gets planted (sketch, throw paint around, get started) then it sprouts and grows..... Happy PPF

Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. I am slightly obsessed with dogs and they usually crop up in my drawings somewhere so I'd love to see how you get on if you do draw one rather than use a sticker. I like the bright colours so far.

I think this looks great so far. I think with more layers the background will be just fine.

I love gardening, too, but it's been so rainy that I've only been able to fit in bit here and there.
