Nicole has a wonderful new challenge called Sunday in the Art Room. While I may not be able to join every week, I will try to do so as often as possible. This week she starts off with showing our art space.
When we bought our current home almost 14 years ago, I was very excited because I would finally get my own room. Before that I was "arting" on the dinner table while we always had our meals in the kitchen - that kitchen was big enough for that. Only when we had guests would I pack away everything. But now I have my own room which we call the "studio", and most of the time it's a big mess. The photo above was taken a few years ago, but not much has changed since then. It's probably even messier now.
The window faces South and in the winter the sun shines right in, so I got a few curtains from my favorite Swedish retailer. They are light and transparent, and the sun is no longer shining right in my face.
The following photo I took from outside looking into the room - you can see the tree reflections. The two big boxes on the ground in the left corner are our grab-and-go boxes. The book you can see in the upper one is the most beloved children's book of both my brother and myself when we were kids, but also of my daughter. She was the one who requested that we put it in the grab-and-go box.

...Carola, I'd love to use that sign!!!
Good afternoon I enjoyed seeing your art space-You have a lovely space-it is so nice to have a room just to ourselves-I have my own and so does my husband for all his extra interests. can you share where you buy your curtains from? is it online? I am in need of new ones and not in the mood lately to make them thanks
OMGoshhhh. I love your space! So much going on in there. The photo take from outside with the tree on the wall is awesome. You seem to be like me a paint brush hoarder, however I want that Talavera Frida catrina. You have inspired me to make a large on for my art room. It's so fun to see everything you have tucked away here and there. As for the shooting I'm sickened. A few days later Ice shot 2 people in Portland, OR. Thank you for sharing with SITAR today.
Your friend's protest sign is AWESOME. If only MAGA would learn from history, or learn at all, quite frankly.
Thanks for the tour of your studio! Looks like a great space to create in!
Since I unfortunately didn't know what happened in Minneapolis, I looked it up on the internet and was able to read a lot about it in Hungarian too.
The sentence on the sign also says a lot. A regrettable and outrageous event happened in the city!
Lovely to see your art room
I love all your photos, Carola! Your studio looks wonderful!
I love seeing your room Carola. It's actually neater than my room usually looks. :) I just like to start the new year with a cleaned room, but it doesn't stay clean very long. :) And isn't it fantastic to have a room of your own? An that is such a cool Mexican style skeleton. I don't know the name of those, but how fun. Have a super week ahead. hugs-Erika
Ihr habt all so viel Platz! Ich hab nur so eine kleine Ecke - und die muss ich mal dringend aufräumen!
Ja, das Sign ist sehr, sehr passend!!! Traurig und passend. Wie lange soll das noch so gehen?
I loved seeing your studio, Carola. I was amazed when you said it was messy because I'd kill to have my area look so good. Right now I can't even work in it, so I'm back to the table! I'm hoping that once Christmas is down to tackle that room, rid myself of things I ill no longer be doing. We'll see how well I do. But it is a wonderful space and nice to have good light. The lazy susan is great for your brushes and I may take and use that idea myself! I'm hoping to join in Nicole's Sundays soon and if I get the art room better, I might show it!
What a wonderful large space for your art work, Carola, and you must enjoy being around what brings you joy and working there. The lighting also looked terrific. When we lived in VA, I had a small back bedroom dedicated to my photo projects and it was a cozy retreat, now however our space is more limited but we make do each with our own special areas. Mine is sadly in need of some reorganizing this year.
Carola, I suspect you have all you need to do any kind of art you choose! I have a very large room over our double garage but it’s not heated so I had to come back to a very small space in the house for the coldest winter months. Feeling cramped and eager for spring. I do have a portable heater but it’s not enough for the space.
Firstly, I LOVE that sign!!! Also, I love a tightly packed art space with everything in view.
Your art room is a lovely space, Carola. I have a room upstairs in our house, but I often find myself bringing my current project(s) downstairs because I like to work where the action is.

Your art room is so well organized, and like me, you have tons of books, art supplies, and art tools. That Día de los Muertos figure is amazing. Like you, I am heartbroken to see German history pretty much repeat itself in the USA these days. I believe we must peaceably speak up, vote, and especially pray without ceasing. Shalom!
