The 366 Project: October

It's rather late for the October part of my 366 project, but since we only came back from our 4-week trip to Germany, France and Belgium the day before yesterday, it still seems on time for me. The first half of October was spent in Santa Rosa and ends with the drive over a very foggy Golden Gate Bridge on our way to San Francisco Airport.

The second half of October was spent in Germany and France.

On the first weekend in Germany - in Münster, Westfalen - we had our Bartz family reunion with the Geek's parents, his two brothers and their families.

On the last Friday of our trip we met with my brother and his wife.

And in between the three of us - the Geek, Kaefer and myself - travelled in Germany, France and Belgium. Here you can see us in Hamburg's Miniatur Wunderland, which has become the no. 1 tourist attraction in Germany and has been on my list for quite some time. Definitely a must-go!

The best part? Seeing Kaefer again. It had been almost two years since we saw her the last time.

There will be future posts about this trip, but for now I want to share these faces with Nicole's Friday Face Off. It might take me a while to visit your blogs, since I still haven't quite arrived yet. I wish all of you a lovely weekend.

Seeing your family must have been really rewarding, especially your daughter. Sightseeing is great, but family is greater!

2 Jahre... und oh, seht ihr euch ähnlich! So schön! Auf ein schönes (wenn auch graues) Wochenende!

What an exciting October you had Carola. It must have been great to see family, and get to do the attraction that's been high on your list. And even more so, seeing your daughter. It looks like you had a great time. I hope you have photos to share. hugs-Erika

Great to hear from you, Carola. It has been far too long, but I am glad to hear that you have been enjoying Europe and all its charms, and especially having joyful family reunions. Best of all, of course, is being with Kaefer again. Two years is a long absence, but the passage of time evaporates in an instant once you are together again. We will all look forward to more news of your European adventures. Giant hugs from Ontario - David

Welcome back, Carola, and looking at the photos, your time away looked to be wonderful meeting up with family and your daughter. The October project was fun to see as well.

Hi Carola. I remembered your question about bringing the dogs over the border, but I thought you might not remember you asked that since a bit of time had passed. Surprisingly, after reading what was required, we didn't need any of it to get back into the US. I had everything ready just in case. We came back into the US in Vermont, and when the border agent stepped out, he asked us to open our back window. When we did, one of the dogs (Miss Maddie) stuck her head out. The agent started to smile (even though he was trying not to). He peeked in the back of the car and the back window of my husband's wagon, went inside, checked out passports, and then wished us a good night. And there was no line to get through, so I'm not sure if he didn't have to ask us for the info or he chose not to. Of course I know if I hadn't updated the rabies shots or done the CDC info page (online) he would have asked for them. :) Thanks for asking, I'm glad it was easy to get through and there was no added questioning. Have a great start to the new week. hugs-Erika

It looks like you had a wonderful time, Carola! It's always fun to get together with family. Actually there is nothing better! I was curious about the monolithic stone in the lower left corner of your second collage. What and where is that? I'm sure it feels good to return home again! Enjoy!
