Bavaria - it took me 33 weeks to finally show a picture taken in Bavaria. Many foreign tourists who come to Germany have two or three places they want to see here: Bavaria, the Mosel and Rhine valley and Berlin. There are certain pictures that people have in mind about Bavaria involving Dirndl and Lederhosen. It must be quite disappointing to see that most Bavarians do not wear Dirndl and Lederhosen. You find women wearing a Dirndl who work in Bavarian restaurants and of course in the Biergarten and at Oktoberfest (which takes place at the end of September). The nice thing about a Dirndl? It's definitely NOT a fashion for slim women! You need "Holz vor der Hütte" (wood in front of the cabin) if you want to wear a Dirndl correctly - now you may figure out what that means! If you don't want to write it in the comments, you can email me here.
This is the church in the small village of Ramsau in the Bavarian Alps in October - many years ago, sometime in the last century (1992?). I was staying in a hotel above the village where I attended a conference. Every morning I went out for my walk, climbed up the hills and took pictures. I remember having the first snow of the season there - as you can still see on that impressive mountain.
I'm linking this to Art Every Day Month.

I'm guessing I have the figure for a Dirndl but I've never heard that saying, LOL!
Such scenery, no wonder to took lots of pictures.
You were cracking me up with who and who does not wear a Dirndl....fabulous foto!!
What a beautiful view! I love the nostalgic feel of the photo as well.
Love that snow covered mountain in the background.
My friend lived in Bavaria for a while. She learnt German while she was there then, later worked for a German company in the UK. Everyone used to laugh at her Bavarian accent - they just weren't expecting it!! I guess it's like a German learning English from someone from Liverpool (a scouser!)
Glorious! And that mountain...amazing. How wonderful to be able to see it in person.
Well, my wood pile is not that substantial, so I guess the dirndl would not work out well on me! ha ha
Fabulous photo - so classically German! It's so fun to scan the old slides and work with them!
Just beautiful... to my Australian eyes it looks so green and exotic... love it xx
such lovely and warm autumn colors
Carola,
These pictures are just stunning! We've never been to Germany (been to lots of neighboring countries), but maybe someday.

Aaaaah, there is nothing so fun and relaxing as hanging out in a biergarten in Bavaria. What a fun memory you brought back to me!
