Drinking Tea in England (August Break 2014)

Since today's prompt is "drink" we turn to England again and the British passion for drinking tea. Tea is so good there, that this coffee drinker turned into a tea drinker. Alas, only in England.

We found this little tea shop in York while rambling along the narrow lanes in this medieval town. I liked their display of loose tea leaves in these big glass containers.

Lucky for us, they also had a pot of hot tea outside their shop where anybody could taste the tea. The glass tea pot beautifully featured the golden color of the tea, and the tea light beneath it gave extra warmth - literally.

There is an abundance of tea rooms all over Britain.

The tea, of course, is preferably taken with milk, and it tastes even better if it is accompanied by homemade scones, clotted cream and jam. Sinfully good!!!

If you are a tea drinker, how do you take your tea? Black? With milk? Sugar? Honey? Or perhaps even with Kandis as we do in the North of Germany?

I like my tea with a bit of lemon but I used to love it with a cloud of milk too. English scones are the best.

lovely to see your tea photos!
i love both tea and coffee, often start with coffee with maple syrup and a dash of coconut milk, followed later with Earl gray or green tea with a touch of sweetener only. That scone looks divine! ummmm
thanks for sharing.

Black teas and chai with milk, green teas with lemon (or nothing). Sadly, very rarely with scones.

Carola, I have really enjoyed looking through your blog - your photos are brilliant! I rarely drink hot tea (I'm a coffee drinker), but when I do, I like it with milk. Iced tea with lemon is great, too.

White English Breakfast tea, with milk and a sweetener (or just little sugar) for me.

I love tea! It depends on the tea how I drink mine. Sometimes with milk and kandis, sometimes with a bit of lemon juice or honey.

Lovely photos, Carola! How exciting to have had the chance to enjoy tea in England! When I was there in 2004, my friend Maria, who lives in West Sussex prepared a beautiful tea for us every morning, complete with homemade scones, clotted cream and raspberry jam. Simply scrumptious and cozy!

That is one tea room I haven't visited, and there have been a few!!! What beautiful photos again, Carola. I take my tea just like in the pictures, not too milky - I love Earl Grey that way too. That Cream tea looks like a very good one!
