Favorite Photos of 2018 - and a Giveaway

During the year I usually organize favorite photos in a special folder so that later I can easily locate those photos of the certain year. 2013 was a year with a lot of favorites, whereas 2018 I didn't put even half of that number in my folder. Its a clear sign that I didn't take that many photos as I used to do.

In this post I will show you my top 15 favorite photos of last year. Some of them you already saw in a blogpost I wrote, but some are new to you. I would love you to tell me in the comments which 3 images out of these photos are your favorites. All the photos have numbers, so just put in the numbers in the comments. By next week's Saturday I will see which three photos have made the top, and one of you will get those three photos as greeting cards.

So leave your ranking and see whether you will be the lucky winner by next weekend, February 16/17.

1. Along the Ring of Kerry

2. Before the Lava Came

3. California Spring

4. Hagia Sophia Lights

5. Happy Hour

6. Irish Sheep

7. Istanbul Umbrellas

8. May Beauties

9. Old Saddle Road

10. On the Lookout

11. Pepperwood Sunset

12. Point Reyes Shipwreck

13. Soaking up the Sun

14. Stairways to Heaven

15. Winter Sunset

You don't make it easy. I loved them all and found it very hard to pick favourites. If push comes to shove I would chose (in no particular order)14,9, 7.

Such gorgeous photos you have shared!
All of them are beautiful, and Pepperwood sunset caught my eyes. The mountains in the distance are lovely.
Have a wonderful weekend.

My word Carola, you make this difficult. My favourtie ranks a score of 100, my second 99.9 and the third 99.8! None of the images fall below 95, so this gives you an idea of the esteem in which I hold these images. First for me is No. 1. One of my favourite things in life is to discover an old bridge and stand on it gazing down into a stream below it, and this old lichen covered structure is perfection to my eyes, and you have really captured its sense of timelessness. No. 3 is my second choice. My grandchildren have all been raised to love nature and take part in great long, rambling walks and this seems like the perfect place to do it with them. It reminds me in a way of an Alpine meadow. I conclude my selections with No. 12, the Port Reyes Shipwreck. It is simply a beautiful images portraying the transience of man and the permanence off nature. That old boat will in the end rot away, and not a trace will be left, but the tides will come and go as they always have as long as there is gravity. In the meantime the rotting hulk seems somehow to evoke poignancy and nostalgia. A wreck has become a thing of beauty. And you have captured it well.

You don't make choosing simple, do you? It's very difficult to choose from this collection but I'll give it my best shot!

My ultimate favorites? Istanbul Umbrellas, Stairway to Heaven and Happy Hour!

Thanks for offering a generous giveaway -- it's fun seeing all your work. (Didn't you swoon when you saw all those suspended umbrellas? I would have taken two dozen photos of the same thing!)

A lovely collection of photos, Carola. I will go with.....numbers 6, 5, and 3.

That road looks like a roller coaster, oh my. How does one drive that road? That is such a cool picture. And that little Irish sheep is too cute. I would love a chance to win your giveaway, thank you. : )

I'd vote for 6 three times (because I love wool), but since you said three different photos 1, 6 and 7.

Wow, what a diverse year you had. Different countries and seasons.

2, 10, 14 are my favorites. They were all a joy to see and consider.

This is an extremely tough choice. So many of them have things I would photograph as well. But I chose the ones that elicited a feeling inside me. So my choices are 5, 12, and 14.

I wonder if we are all in a cycle of taking less photographs, but enjoying life more, seeing life more. I know my 365 project burned me out, but it is also winter here and I have a puppy. I know that the photography will come back, but I have a wonderful backlog to create from, so it is like discovery all my favorite photographs all over again.

Okay - so that was NOT easy. Every time I thought I had my choices made, I'd scroll a little farther and change my mind. So here goes - my three favorite are:
7 - Isatanbul umbrellas
11 - Pepperwood Sunset
12 - Point Reyes Shipwreck

But really - they're all lovely!

Was für schöne Fotos!
