An Old Barn in Ruins

Along one of our beautiful and scenic country roads you can find this barn - old, weathered, and completely in ruins.

A "do not enter" sign warns everybody of the sad state of this barn that probably had been quite the beauty in its good days. Now everything has become dilapidated. From these pictures you can see how the vegetation is growing through the roof. Here's a close up:

In some parts the roof has been covered, but I'm pretty sure it's not of much use either and the rain - if it rains - still leaks through.

However, pictures like the following ones are just beautiful, showing the old barn in front of the hills that you find so many of here in Sonoma County.

This is the backside of the barn - it looks a bit better and you could almost have the illusion that this is still a working barn.

Stunning phots carola! If I ever manage to visit the USA I hope it will be your part of the countr. I love the contrasts you have captured with the old weathered wood and the green leaves of the trees growing through x

Love all the texture in the old barn....and seeing the address numbers (is that what they are?) made me smile. Great images!

How wonderful! I love the old worn wooden textures against the fresh colours of the trees and bushes!

I can't resist an old barn, either. Especially one that is falling down. Nice captures!

Oh, wie ich solche Orte liebe. Orte, die sich die Natur zurückerobert hat.

Both of your barn posts are wonderful Carol!
Great photos...I am always drawn to weathered buildings and such.
I see someone planted bamboo...that stuff takes over in no time and can devour the landscape in any weather conditions.
Here's hoping you get some much needed rain.

Great captures, Carol! I'm always drawn to old barns, but don't stop often enough to take pictures. Have a blessed week!

Beautiful series of photos. The setting of this old barn is lovely. Having the trees growing around, about and in the barn is Mother Nature's way of taking it all back into herself. Wonderful.

I am with you -- love barns old styles mostly and love to take snap shoots of all types of barn but the older = been there for 50 some years or more is my most likes -- enjoyable to capture..
Your shoots are really clear and eye catching...
