With These Hands

It is done - I've finished my first "real" page in my art journal. I had so much fun with it. For quite a while I wanted to start an art journal and never did, but the thought of it wouldn't leave me. When Soraya showed some of her art journal pages here, I was so inspired, especially by her "hand page", that I wanted to create something like that, using my hand. It feels just right for the first page (which is actually not on the first page but somewhere in the middle).

I'm linking this to JRU studio's Sneak Peek Friday - it is so interesting to see what everyone is working on and finding inspiration in different studios.

Love this piece. I've created so many images (drawings & photography) with my daughters' hands when they were little. Now they are 11 and 17 and I can't remember the last time I did this ... you have inspired me! I just wrote a note to myself to do something with the girls to document this time in our lives ... our hands are all about the same size now! Thanks!!
Have a great weekend!

It came out beautifully! You might also enjoy Judy Wise's art journals! Check out her blog. She is coming to Petaluma in the fall I believe to an Art Retreat to teach a workshop too.

I am so glad you posted this! A "grown up" version of hand tracing...and definitely something I am going to try soon as hands are always intriguing to me! I am so glad you are linking into JRU's sneak peeks!

Blessings,
Cindy

I love your page! You will see that once you start you cannot stop. It is an amazingly gratifying and freeing addiction (if there is such a thing). Keep up the good work. I use my hand in art journaling often. I find it is a great way to get my mind off of the muck and into the page. Give thanks for sharing and reminding me that I haven't done a page in over a week!

Hands, they speak a language all their own, I love the use of language, but images are more powerful still...

I simply love it and what a fabulous idea too. I was just telling my business partner that we need to do up a very creative book for our "To Do Lists" we keep making, but never seem to find the list. I figured if it was all artsy, we'd look at it everyday.

Thanks for so much inspiration.

Bright blessings,
Kathy

Congrats on your first page in your art journal, isn't it so exciting! I think the hand cut out if a perfect emblem to start off with a personal note and tie yourself into your journal. May you and it have long and happy days together :)
