WOYWW 90

Hello dear WOYWWers, how have you been doing since last Wednesday? I look forward to another bloghop around the world to have a peek at everyone's workdesk. If you came here by chance and want to know what I'm talking about, check out Julia's blog to get the full picture.

I have been trying to get into art journaling because I really like this way of artful expression. This is one of my first pages, and for this particular page I found the inspiration when I looked at Soraya's art journaling pages that she so generously showed here. On one of her pages she had painted her hand and that page really "jumped" at me and I had to try that as well. My hand turned out almost the same way as hers, only hers is so much more beautiful - she's a real wonderful artist. My hand will actually be the journaling part, I will write over the paint and fill the hand with my thoughts. The pink slip in the middle is just a blank index card that I painted with acrylic paint and then tried several of my pens on it to find out which one writes best on that kind of background. My pen of choice is the purple Uniball  vision elite. It writes smooth and fast, just what I like. To the left is the newest issue of Somerset's Art Journaling. I read a bit in it this afternoon when I took a break and sat outside, all bundled up, because it was kind of chilly but sunny. This magazine is fantastic, there is so much inspiration in there and wonderful techniques that are super easy and fun - I can't wait to get my hands on the next pages that are already building up in my head. But first I should finish this one, "with my hands".

Alright, thanks for stopping by, I hope I can visit many of you, if only I had more time. I want to thank you who always stop by my blog and leave those kind comments - you ALWAYS make my day.

Carola - I bet Soraya's first page did not look as good at her 10001 page - art is about fine hand eye co-ordination Practice Does Make Perfect,

there are lots of journaling groups with a full range of Artists - you could join one and it will encourage you to see your own and others art journeys, I have at least 10 pages 'on the go' at any one time...

Ah happy journaling, Carola, I have always found I start with a bang and then end with a whimper (like the poem) ie full of good intentions but not an ongoing thing sadly...
Happy WOYWW!

I love to see a creative person's workspace. It always makes me want to visit and create with all the lovely materials.

I'm liking the start of your art journal. Your enthusiasm is great & helps motivate me whilst I'm feeling sluggish. Thanks :-)

I hope you'll understand if I say your mention of sitting in the sun 'all bundled up' made me think of our dog Lindy, who finds a sunny spot even in a snowy, icy winter, and sits there basking in the warmth of the sun. She is almost impervious to the cold, apparently a trait of Golden Retrievers, but she is also solar-powered, like a cat!

I need a pen that writes fast too. I get it. I love that page. How about photographing your hand and then printing it really pale and writing over that too...oh look, you've got me interested in a journal!

I took an art journaling workshop from Judy Wise at Art and Soul in Portland last year. Such fun. You are off to a wonderful start!
Just have fun with it. What language will you write in?

Let me know if you try the new clam chowder place and which you like best. We always get some and take it and the sour dough bread from the Tides deli to the headlands to eat over looking the ocean!

Hi Carola. Thanks for visiting. I'm not really good at jam either and it's a pity I only get one crop per year to practice on.
I do like your journal. There is something fundemental to being human found in hands. How wonderful to put reflections into that shape of your human hand. I hope the thoughts lead you somewhere special.

I hope you will love artjournaling as much as I do. I can only gasp at your photgraphs, I'm a hopeless photographer...
