Poppies

I love poppies. Of course the California Poppy with its happy orange color. But also the Iceland Poppy that comes in all kinds of color, like the fiery orange-red in the top photo, found in the garden of the Geek's aunt in East Germany. Or all the "fancy" poppies I had in my old garden.

Not only the blossoms are beautiful, the seed pods are pretty awesome as well.

But most of all, I love the "wild" red poppies that turn up everywhere in Germany as a sure sign of summer. They are on the side of the roads, spread out in fields and there are even entire meadows of poppies, like these ones in East Germany.

They are so incredibly beautiful. Nature's paint brush simply does it best. It inspired me to do my own mixed media painting of those red poppies that we call "Klatschmohn" in German. Honestly, I never am even close to nature's artistry.

"Bloom" is now available here in my Etsy store.

Poppies are one of my favorite flowers. I would go nuts seeing a field of them.

Yes, the wild poppies are in full bloom around here. Admired some in my brother's garden yesterday.

When those fields of poppies catch your eye from a distance, the red ground cover, it gives you a little thrill. Your painting does the poppy justice, I think you've captured the essence here!

I also love the picture of your home in the evening light. x

Beautiful photos. I too love poppies, particularly the seed heads, which remind me of my Grandmother's garden. Your art is also beautiful - wonderful colours

I love our beautiful orange California poppies, but I still remember the surprise and thrill of seeing those red ones growing wild on a trip to England.

Since my favorite color is red, I would love to see such a field in person. I think your painting captures the vibrant and playful colors.

I love poppies too, they fascinate me. Some are big a blousy and some are so small and delicat. I love their colours and fragility.

Isn't the poppy California's state flower, Carola? No wonder! I remember being enthralled by it the 12 years we lived there. It's so simple and yet so grand. And I LOVE your artwork tribute to it!

Poppies really are a great flower! Of course I'm loyal to the California poppy, but love the red ones too -- they remind me of Italy, but I guess they're all over Europe. Your artwork is charming!

Oh, how lovely! I have just a handful of red and salmon colored ones that bloom each year -- loving that pink and white one! And the field... oh my!

Your poppy creation is amazing, Carola. So beautiful!

Poppies are one of my favorite flowers. Over here we have loads growing in the hedgerows at the moment. I really should get round to taking a photograph of them.
