I know, there have been a lot of tulip photos around recently... it's not really surprising since they are such lovely spring flowers. They are certainly my favorite spring flower, especially if they come in my favorite color, orange.
I bought these ones at Trader Joe's not only because they are orange but also because they are California grown. It's even better that they come from my state!
I first cropped the photo in Lightroom and did some very minor changes. Then I added a texture in PSE, "kk_january7grunge". I applied it in blending mode vivid light at 100% and then brushed away the texture from the flowers, vase, bird and wood, not being too precise, followed by a levels adjustment on the texture only. I do like how the color pops!

Hi Carola, I'm finding that every time I stop by your blog my first reaction is Wow! Your creative photography is just wonderful. I love this one today with the orange tulips. Now, thank you so much for taking the time to give me the info on Etsy. I did get on there and did search for "vintage postcards" and, yes, Wow again, I'm impressed with how much is on there! Thanks again and have a good day! John
Very pretty. To me California tulips are proof that spring is moving north and east. :)
Nice editing and I like the bird in the photo as well.
The tulips are pretty, but your photography is stunning! No tulips around here... But it is snowing glitter this morning... teeny tiny little flakes catching the sun...
Trader's has the best tulips...I found light pink and white last week, and they had a large color selection. I love your pitcher, with the orange tulips! Enjoy!!
So pretty and orange is so striking rather than the usual colours...
Carola, whatever you did to the photo, it really turned out well. The orange is brilliant!
oh these are just a bright pop of sunshine! beautifully shot and processed!
Wow! What a stunning photo, and beautifully edited too. Love it
Das ist wunderschön geworden Carola!
Das würde ich mir glatt an die Wand hängen :)
Das Piepmätzchen gefällt mir auch sehr :))

PS: den Krug hab ich auch ;)
They are a beautiful bouquet and the editing is very nicely done! The tulips in the grocery stores here come from a neighbouring province, Prince Edward Island. I appreciate buying local when I can. Have a good day! Pam
Oooh, so pretty! I could use something like this in my bedroom at the lake house. My colors are navy, white and pops of orange.
I love your orange tulips!
Gorgeous!
Beautoful. Love the orange contrast with the dark background. Also love the few sparks of orange on the bird.
Beautiful! I love the color. I have tulips from Trader Joe in the same IKEA vase right now. :) My tulips are almost 'past their prime' but I am still hoping to get a picture of them...
I looked for tulips at the grocery store today to bring some color into my world. Not a one to be had. They must have all been sold for Valentine. Your orange ones do pop!
Ha, how pleasing for a dutch woman to see orange tulips :) thank you!
What a lovely, cheerful image. Your gentle backlighting is stunning. All the best, Bonny
Atemberaubend schön ist diese Zusammenstellung und Bearbeitung - etwas gemäldeartig - gefällt mir sehr.
Wenn ich aufgepasst habe, dann ist deutsch in Ordnung !?
Liebe Grüße - Monika
This is fabulous, Carola! Not only are the tulips beautiful, I love that pitcher! I often put my tulips in pitchers instead of 'real' vases. Tulips and pitchers just seem to go together.
Very lovely composition. The tulips pop and the texture adds character to the background. Well done!
I too love how those beautiful tulips pop!! Beautiful treatment of your photograph, it's exceptional and I hope, one day, to try all those methods you describe :D)
Lovely shot! The tulips are gorgeous!
Orange tulips are one of my favorite flowers, and you've captured a beautiful bouquet. Well done!
Very very pretty!
