You Have To Love Red...

... when you go to London, that's for sure!

There is so much red in London - and it's not a dull or shy red. No, the London red is bold and bright.
Phone booths, mail boxes, buses on busy roads. Red wherever you look.

The tube stations are announced with a bright red circle, and the dominating color at Piccadilly circle is red.

The famous guards at Buckingham Palace wear red uniforms, and of course red is an important color in the  flag of the City of London.

You find red on Tower Bridge as well - like in this image where you can see the middle part of this famous Victorian bridge and the hyper-modern Shard behind it.

Why so much red, one might wonder. While I don't have an answer, I think it's just to set a vibrant accent to the often grey and rainy days. You can see red quite well in the fog!

This one is a classic - I couldn't resist!

Do you like those red British phone booths?
This set of photo cards is still available in my shop.

Love it. It really pops out at you doesn't it? Growing up that particular red was described as 'post box' red or 'fire-engine' red. And now, here at least fire-engines are no longer red, and the post boxes are few and far between.

These are great - especially the first two.
Your cards (and the ones from yesterday) are great.

What a super striking set of photos and I was going to add that they'd make great postcard..... well there you go! Well done.
It's such a shame that the red phone boxes are phased out and now only in tourist spots, quaint villages etc.
They were designed by Giles Gilbert Scott,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giles_Gilbert_Scott
who designed our beautiful cathedral in Liverpool and there is a red phone box inside the cathedral, in full working order, for public use!

Those pops of red are amazing! My daughter got a shot of her in the phone booth when she went to London years ago. Bet the red helps energize people on those dreary days.

Hammer! Die Fotos sind der Hit, toll, wie du die roten Akzente gesetzt hast. Das sind so Momente, da bedaure ich, dass ich mich mit der Fotobearbeitung nicht auskenne. Aber frau kann nicht alles können.

We noticed the wonderful reds when we were there too Carola and as we are originally from coastal Oregon where it rains a lot in the winter (very similar climate to London actually) we thought that we should take a few of those red buses and phone booths back with us ;>)... you can really use a red pick-me-up when it is gray.

Your pictures are just stunning in the way they show that contrast. And I loved the memories as well. Thanks.
