Braids

Kaefer loves to braid hair. Usually she practices with her dolls, but she also braids her own hair and recently she has started to braid mine as well. No wonder she tells me to NOT cut it short again!

Her newest style is a French side braid - she did one for herself, and then one for me. I tried once to braid hers, but failed miserably.

I just love to take pictures of her from behind - especially in a location like this one, on the deck of a friend's house, looking west to the coastal range - a killer view.

How clever Kaefer is - and how beautiful you both look. And you are right about the killer view which she enhances.

Love the photo of your two heads together, and the braids look wonderful on you both. My hair may be too layered to make this work, but I'm going to try it!

I used to love to braid my younger daughter's long black hair -- I got quite good at French braids. That first image is so precious!

Gorgeous - especially with that red sweater.
I'm a hopeless failure at braiding.

Lovely braids. I miss mine....my hair was really long in the early 90's and then I cut it. Short. Many times. Now, it's growing again and you have given me a gentle reminder about how pretty those French braids are (I could do my own, too).
I love the shots....they suggest so many story lines. The one I like is the closeness you have with Kaefer.
As always, I love your photography.

The photo with you and Kaefer is wonderful. We (the girls and I in my family) have a strong "braid tradition" as we all have long hair and we especially love the French braid.

Like mother like daughter! She may not want to hear that right now at her age, but she clearly has a LOT of you in her, Carola. I know you're proud of her!

Well even though I am French I never mastered the French braid. When we lived in San Francisco my hair was long to my waist. I either had a regular braid or my husband would place flowers in it (that was the 60s…) These braids look quite nice on your photos.
