Teach your children
what we have taught our children –
that the earth is our mother.
Whatever befalls the earth
befalls the sons and daughters of the earth.
If men spit upon the ground,
they spit upon themselves.
This we know.
The earth does not belong to us;
we belong to the earth.
This we know.
All things are connected
like the blood which unites one family.
All things are connected.
Whatever befalls the earth
befalls the sons and daughters of the earth.
We did not weave the web of life;
We are merely a strand in it.
Whatever we do to the web,
we do to ourselves…

Love the jumping in air shot of your little girl. Awesome scene. Awesome poem too!
Wonderful post for Earth Day week! The older I get the stronger is my belief that we are all so intimately connected with life here -- "we belong to the Earth!" Great photo!
Fabulous photo, and I love the words of Chief Seattle.
All politicians should be made to read this over and over again until they have it memorized. Then perhaps something will be done.
And perhaps it won't.

A wise man he was, Chief Seattle. So true. And a wonderful shot of your kid!
Your photo is a wonderful illustration for the words of Chief Seattle.

I've already commented on V&V about this but I just love that your daughter has been taught these wonderful truths by you!
Oh, I love this, Carola - the photo and the words! And you are following through by teaching your child!!
