I Could Open a Mushroom Farm!

processed with Kim's "golden"

Finally we had quite some rain which did wonders to my garden. Not only did the flowers grow and new green appear everywhere, I also had a LOT of mushroom growth! The soil I have - compost that I got delivered two years ago when I turned my lawn into flower beds - seems to be a great breeding ground for all kinds of mushrooms.

The mushrooms seem to change from year to year. The first year I had some very weird looking ones, but this year they actually look like mushrooms!

Last weekend I did the big clean up in my garden. Weeding, clearing out overgrown areas, sowing more seeds and pulling mushrooms. This one was the biggest one:

Quite the beauty, eh?

Yesterday I started playing with textures again - I hadn't done that in a long time. So I'm joining Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday today. The theme is "from above" - as you can see here:

  3. Isn't rain a joy? Someone once told me that you can keep things alive by watering, but if you want them to grow they need rain.
And there is certainly an element of truth in it.
LOVE the mushrooms. Such elegant shapes and colours.

  4. Your photography makes them look pretty! It surprises me how quickly mushrooms sprout and grow (sometimes I think it happens overnight!).

  5. I have lots of mushrooms growing in my raised beds too. I was warned not to eat any! Yours are lovely -- the processing adds such pretty tones to your images.

  7. Awesome mushrooms Carola. Be careful though with your pets if you have any. They could be poisonous to your dogs/cats etc. Yes one year we ordered lots of compost and with it came mushrooms. I immediately pulled them out despite their beauty. We have family pet members. Great photos. You should paint them.

  10. That first photo is my favorite - it does look like a fairy garden. I love the water drops hanging from the edge of the leaf. I wonder if any of your mushrooms are edible? Especially that big one!
