WOYWW 102

So, we're getting closer and closer to the long anticipated second anniversary of WOYWW where the creative world spends the day sailing around the globe and looking at other creative souls' desks. And all this thanks to the wonderful Julia of Stamping Ground who consistently makes this blog hop possible every Wednesday. Julia, you rock!

My mojo had gone out the door for quite a while. I hadn't been very creative - I was either working out in the garden or I spent considerable time with the owls. As some of you might know, the "fallen" owlet had been released back to the site, and it's doing well. Last time I saw them on Saturday, and both owlets were cuddling on a branch with the mom close to them. The family really is reunited. I am so glad about that.

Yesterday, though, I was really frustrated. For one, the bad weather has returned - rain and cold, I actually had to switch on the heater because the house was so cold. And I'm NOT living in Minnesota, no, this is "sunny" California! Huh! That didn't really anything good to my mood and I was feeling useless, had this "I'm not good enough" mood - it was highly unpleasant. Then I grabbed my art journal and started to play around with my water colors - and that actually helped!!!

So I got out a small canvas, 5x5, and some acrylics.


And what is missing here? Yes, you got that right - an owl! I'm thinking of creating the owl with fabric, I have some nice fat quarters that I'm going to cut up for that. Sooner or later I had to start creating owls after spending so much time with the owl family.

Oh - and I made an owl book today - uploaded my owl photos and made a photo book at Shutterfly for my Dad's birthday.

I think my mojo is back.

    Yay, your mojo is back! Carola, please don't ever think you are not good enough. Promise me you won't do that again! The painting you have started will be so cute once your little owl is added to it. And nobody can do it like you can. It's your signature!     Now this is a desk I LOVE paint and canvas every where I believe the golden paints are very good (tad pricey though) let me know what you think of them

    Looks like fun! definately needs an owl though! I am off to a quilt show tomorrow and am hoping to come home with a few new fat quarters! Also we usually visit California at the tale end of May (unfortunately not this year though) it can be surprisingly cold in the mornings cant it! Thanks for sharing. Sunshine Girl No. 40

    Oh well done Carola, those owl photos deserve a book. Love the idea of adding a fabric owl...somuch fraying and texturing can be done for it that way. Yep, look , you've even got my mojo a going!! Weather here is pants too...funny how it affects a mood.

    I totally needs an OWL! Very sweet canvas start - as they say, small, but perfectly formed. Just the ticket to lift a black mood! Cold here too, at least it was yesterday. Here's hoping for the weekend!

    Your adventures with the owls had been enjoyable to follow through the photo's. I think there is definately material there for an owl book.

    Wasn't the weather yesterday awful? Relentless! Not that today is all that much better but at least it is dry.

    I just love that background color - and the tree is adorable. I am very anxious to see the owlet when you have it complete.
