Haunted Neighborhood

The closer we got to Halloween, the more "creepy" decoration appeared in my neighborhood. Some were very creative like in the setting above that displays an entire scene. But I noticed that this year there were dominantly skeletons on display. I wonder what had happened to the ghosts that used to "roam" our neighborhood in October.

The above scene is across from our neighborhood market and therefore I pass it pretty often. It seemed to me that I either hadn't noticed everything before or things were added to this scene over the last few days. I don't think they will get full from their barbecue...

I have to admit, the rattlesnake - or what is left of it - made me laugh.

I'm not sure I would appreciate a welcome committee like this one.

Were they playing ball with the skull and just got tired of it, in need for a break?

At least this pair had the decency to throw on some clothes.

And I fear these witches aren't up for anything good.

Finally I found some friendly ghosts. Hurray! Not all is lost.

Of course you all know what comes after Halloween - Día de Muertos. Even I own a Talavera Frida catrina.

You know who will love all these skulls? Nicole for her Friday Face Off.

And at the end, the sweetest Halloween face of them all. Little Franklin, my friends Matt and J's little rescue dog. Isn't he a cutie?

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Well, this IS my kind of post. The skeletons are so readily available now. The prices can be a bit sticker shock but oh so worth it. I do love the witches too. They certainly are not up to any good at all. So happy you found some ghost. But the best photo is little Franklin. What a cutie. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have the best weekend.

There does seem to be an obsession with skeletons. Perhaps this indicates a subliminal desire for people to lose weight and not gobble down all the Halloween candies they buy for the children! I swear that my former neighbour always bought enough to feed a village and was constantly snacking on them for months. Halloween in general seems to be a declining event around here. Some of the decorations one sees are simply over the top, and some are quite creative and well thought out. Many are simply comprised of large inflatable hobgoblins and monsters that deflate overnight and lie limp on lawns in the morning. The doodad manufactures in China must love Halloween! It’s great for the bottom line. Many hugs - David

Skeletons galore! There's no sign of Halloween here in rural Spain. I think the children have a fancy dress party somewhere but other than that I am mercifully spared all this malarkey.
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca

Franklin is the cutest. We don't see much of Day of the Dead here in New Hampshire, but there's certainly been a lot of skeletons. I haven't seen any rattlesnake ones though, nor the western BBQ. I think people seem to have a lot of fun decorating for Halloween lately. I hope yours isn't too frightening-grin. hugs-Erika

Our neighborhood too is full of skeleton displays, which started to appear at the end of September and have continued onward with great elaboration. One giant troll has finally showed up, along with a few witches and ghosts, but skeletons rule.

Skeletons seem to be very big this year! We don't see all that many Halloween decorations in my neighborhood so it's extra fun seeing these photos. Well done, too -- not "just throw everything we have up, whether it's the skeleton AND the inflated witch" or not!

Those are fun Halloween displays. I love the Mexican Catrina too. Happy FFO!

Since we live in an apartment building, I haven't seen any of those life-size skeletons, which do seem to be popular these days and not sure why.

That's some cool decorations. Skeltons seem to be the "in" thing. Those witches I saw at Home Depot one year. I took snap a photo and then created a scene with it. Those ghosts you found a really nice, perhaps the best ones I've seen. Thanks for sharing!
