Short Walk at the Lake

With Christmas just a bit more than a month away, my Etsy shop has become increasingly busy and I'm knitting up a storm. That means most of my blog posts will be shorter for the next few weeks. Today I'm taking you to the lake again.

Usually I see and hear a lot of birds there, so it didn't come as a surprise that I saw this beautiful Great Egret (Ardea alba) only a few minutes after I had started my short and quick walk.

I always enjoy this tree which has become a favorite. I love its crookedness and the beautiful view of the lake behind it. The red leaves at the lower part of the trunk is poison oak, so it's a good idea to stay away.

It didn't take long until I saw this beautiful buck, a proud Black-tailed deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus). He didn't mind me at all, knowing that I was no threat to him. Unfortunately the picture of him is rather pixelated.

I always enjoy the lake, even if I just do a very quick walk.

Poison oak (Toxicodendron pubescens) always looks beautiful, especially in the fall when it changes its color to a splendid red, but if you touch it you will regret it because it causes very bad and painful rashes. Better stay away and admire its beauty from a safe distance.

Let's celebrate T Tuesday with Bleubeard and Elizabeth! Today we're having a Maitai in remembrance of beautiful summer days gone by. Cheers!

  3. Spring Lake is beautiful and that deer is remarkable. Poison oak may be beautiful, but the rash is unbearable. I agree that people need to stay away from it.

Your Maitai looks refreshing. I also have one of those candle holders, too. Thanks for sharing your walk, the egret, the deer, and the lake with us, as well as your Maitai for T this Tuesday, dear Carola.

  4. Liebe Carola,
Schönen T-Day und alles Liebe, Traude

  6. I am glad to hear that your ETSY shop is doing well, Carola, but you still had time for a pleasant work, and that’s what really counts. Lovely area and a Great Egret to greet you! I have a friendfrom Australia staying with me right now and we will be leaving for Cuba on Sunday, so if I don’t visit your blog for a while, you will understand. All the best - David

  19. Nice to read that your ETSY shop is doing well, Carola, as homemade gifts are so much nicer than store-bought and hope you have a good holiday selling season.

Your walk at the lake was lovely with so many great sights, egret and buck, and I also caught u[p on some of your previous posts even if no comment was left. I'm trying to catch up on what bloggers have been doing in the time we were away on our travels.

  24. Thank you very much for the tour, dear Carola... the roebuck is great... it's really a pleasure to meet wild animals.
Yes, you say Christmas is getting closer, even though it's still totally autumnal here... which of course I'm very happy about. But the Christmas markets start here on November 23rd. I hope you enjoy knitting. Your blue bird hat is beautiful... It's a shame that the postage has become so incredibly expensive - otherwise I would have liked to buy it... for myself.
    A hug from Viola
