On several blogs I have seen posts with pictures from 10 years ago. I find it inspiring looking back and have decided to do a "10 years ago" post every now and then.
Tonight we're going back to a rather chilly evening we spent at the beach.
I think the reason was that Kaefer had to do some science project that had to do with the curve of the earth and that you see the setting sun longer from a higher point and she had to figure out the time difference - something like that. I honestly don't remember exactly. Anyway, we wanted to check out spots at the coast that would work for this project.
Fat chance to find an evening at our coast without clouds and/or the marine layer while the sun is setting - in March. This certainly wasn't one of those days.
So what did we do? Taking pictures of course.
My two sweethearts...
Kaefer was 14 at that time and a freshman at high school. In her face I can still see the goofy child, but also the emerging young woman.
Thank you to Nicole who lets us show those faces for Friday Face Off.
What a lovely remembrance post. This is charming and I look forward to more of your 10 years ago posts. I can say you and Kaefer haven't changed that much in 10 years. I would certainly recognize both of you. And of course, your photos were as beautiful then as they are today. LOVELY Friday faces.
ReplyDeleteSchöner, glücklicher Post und schöne Idee.
ReplyDeleteHmm, eventuell äff ich dich nach. Im November.
Ohje, die Zeit rast.
Ten years on they are still your sweethearts - whatever the weather.

ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful coast and vibe
...of course a warm day at the beach is preferred, but beauty can be found any day. Kaefer has a million dollar smile!!! Take care and be well.
ReplyDeleteGreat retrospective - she was a beautiful teenager then and is a beautiful young woman now. And I bet she did well on the science project!
ReplyDeleteLooking back 10 years is an amusing idea. Blogger makes it easy to find a 10-year-old post, so I looked. Ten years ago I was in Paris. That trip seems like just a few months ago! Thanks for inspiring me to look.
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Fun pictures, it's good to have a look back! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteKaefer is lovely and her hair braid looks so natural on her.
ReplyDeleteThe photos of your daughter are particularly lovely! Beautiful French braid and blue sweater!
ReplyDeleteYour coast is like my coast. Dress for the actic to go to the beach. LOL I love the photos. Your daughter is so pretty. Thank you for sharing with FFO. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the idea of looking back 10 years ... that would make Kaefer 24 now, right? My Granddaughter is 14 now and will be a freshman in high school this fall. We have watched her transition from goofy kid to young women over this last year ... it is much more subtle in a woman and hard to put a finger on what has changed, but there is definitely a change. I remember when I was in that age group and the boys that I could look at eye to eye in 8th grade were suddenly towering over me and their voices were suddenly deep when we started high school. Isn't life grand ... Your pictures are delightful and Kaefer is beautiful. I also can feel the cold you were feeling on that beach. So did you figure out how much difference there was in the time you would see the sun from different points on the earth? I would like to meet the science teacher who thought that one up :) What a delightful post, Carola ...

Lovely blues.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on, and stay safe.
Visiting the beach even in the cold and even when you can't work on a science project is always a great thing to do. These more lovely photos. It's always a pleasure to see what you photograph. Have a great weekend, hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThis was a nice look back in time, Carola, and nice to see that your daughter's science project was also family time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely look back.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your photographs.
All the best Jan
Kaefer is a lovely sight with her braid, blue sweater, and smile!
ReplyDeleteThe spectacular ocean, as displayed in your professional pictures, is a perfect background to your charming little family.
Isn't it fun to go back through the photos -- reliving those times and places? This looks like a wonderful time together.
