A Real Banksy?

Sometime overnight in the last week after Thursday, this street art appeared on the wall of the Masonic Lodge in Windsor, CA. No one knows where it came from and exactly when. All we know that it wasn't there before Thursday.

But there is one dominant question - is this a real Banksy? No one so far has answered this. It does look like art à la Banksy, however, it can be completely fake as well. After all, it's easy to purchase stencils like this and a spray can and off you go.

Does it really matter? I sure don't care. I like this little girl with her heart shaped balloon and the brown rainboots, and her sweet face is my contribution to Nicole's Friday Face Off.

It is lovely - and a fine contribution to Friday Face Off - no matter who created it.

Faux or real? I'm like you. Who cares. It's definitely adorable and Banksy-esk!

It certainly beats the mindless graffiti one sees so often, and there is a simplicity and attractiveness about it. It will be interesting to see if more such street art appears and perhaps in time you will learn the name of the artist. Hugs from Ontario, Carola.

My first thought on seeing it was "stencil" but it could be a real Banksy.

Nope. Doesn't matter. Except to Banksy, maybe. It delights. That's what matters.

The original girl with a balloon by Banksy (dated 2002) is reproduced widely and easily available. Would the elusive graffitist come to California and make a new copy of this work? Who knows? No one has a clue how Banksy thinks. But making a copy would be very easy.

Sweet , though not the original. The girl releasing the red balloon was Bansky's most famous graffity work!
