One day while staying in München we took the train out to Starnberger See (Lake Starnberg). When we walked towards the lake we came upon a big beautiful meadow.
The meadow was covered with little yellow Buttercups as well as tiny blue Veronica and dandelions. You can see a bit of the lake peeking through the trees. There were all kinds of huge decidious trees, including this magnificent Copper Beech, a favorite of mine.
It filled me with an aching wistfulness.
After having spent a couple hours at the lake we thought it was time to come back here and get some goodies from the kiosk. Kaefer had raved about the strawberry-rhubarb cake she had eaten here the summer before, so we wondered whether they already had some - they had! Kaefer hadn't promised too much, the cake was delicious. Not too sweet so that you could taste the fruit - just right! The Geek and I had iced chocolate (with lots of whipped cream) and Kaefer opted for a big glass of apple juice.
I am linking with Rain's Thursday Art and Dinner Date - you can have cake for dinner, right?
Yes, cake for dinner for sure. Lovely photos, I am enjoying them very much.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting for cake and a beverage. The cake sounds delicious. enjoyed the photos

ReplyDeleteOf course you can have cake for dinner.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos - and memories.
I agree that those tables look so appealing, Carola. Who could resist buying something to eat just to have the pleasure of sitting there? And your choices were wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCake for dinner? Sure - milk, eggs, flour, fruit - can't think of a better dinner!
ReplyDeleteLiebe Carola,
Alles Liebe, Traude

ReplyDeleteWistful is quite the right word for the scene of the tables in the meadow with the wild flowers (and bees) and the bright sunshine. I must say though that when you got to the food part, my mouth was watering. It not only sounds delicious, it looks delicious. My dinner quiche suddenly sounds boring :( Lovely post, Carola ...

Aching wistfulness. Sounds lovely. And looks beautiful. I love the idea of eating out there!
ReplyDeleteThese tables set up in the meadow look so charming. The strawberry-rhubarb cake looks scrumptious, and you're right, not too sweet. And the iced chocolate looks really good. Have never had an iced chocolate before. The grass is full and green, and this is a lovely setting close to the lake.
