Coconut Fence

While on Maui we drove down Makena Road out to the Lava Fields when we saw three women by the roadside selling fresh fruit. We stopped and bought a pineapple that was so delicious and sweet - you never get it like this here on the mainland. One of the women prepared it for us right there.

It does look good, doesn't it?

While we were resting there eating our chunks of pineapple and almost getting delirious over it, I looked around a bit and noticed this fence with the coconuts on the posts. I don't like the taste of coconuts, but I like how they look, and I thought they made darn good fence posts.

They do remind a little bit of skulls, don't you think?

Certainly they are good fences - and so I link up to Theresa's blog! Thank you for visiting.

  1. Definitely looks like a face in that one coconut. I've been to the lava fields - from a distance it just looks like turned earth so we were surprised by how sharp and spiky those rocks were!

  3. Now that is something you don't see every day. What a unique fence with the coconuts on top. I like coconut and pineapple. That one did remind me of a skull.

  4. Love the coconut additions to the fence. Sad to see the ubiquitous barbed wire though.

  12. These are wonderful pictures. I have never seen anything like that before. The pineapple sounded delicious. When we were in Hawaii we met a another guest at breakfast and she was eating papaya. She told us we really should eat the papaya here, it is sweeter than anything she has ever tried anywhere and she was right. We ate more pineapple and more papaya on that vacation :)

  13. I have to say those coconuts did remind me of heads on spikes - not that I've ever seen any, but as a reader I've certainly heard of such things. It does make for an interesting fence. But the pineapple! That has my mouth watering! I also ate lots of papaya on my (long ago) visit to Hawaii, and it's true that it's just not the same anyplace else.
