The First Cherry Blossoms

Last weekend we went into the city for a visit to Japantown, one of Kaefer's favorite places. It was a surprisingly warm day for San Francisco, and at the Peace Plaza, in the heart of Japantown, we saw the first Japanese Cherry blossoms.

But this wasn't the only sign we were in Japantown...

Kaefer, of course, likes to shop in Japantown. Her favorite store is Daiso.
She was happy to look at all the colorful notebooks...

... and she loves the bento boxes.

This is her favorite one:

I preferred to wander around the "china" section - I think you can see why.

But the best part, of course, was the food!

Miso, Ramen and Sushi - yummy! Do you like Japanese food? And if so, which is your favorite?

  3. Haven't been to J-town in ages, need to go. Yes, I do like Japanese food and often order the bento box at a restaurant. I like everything except the preserved plums that are a favorite of some of my Japanese friends.

  6. This will sound very ignorant, but I didn't realize San Francisco even had a Japantown. Thank you for the tour!

  7. Oh, such memories of the wonderful day we spent there, a couple of years ago, when we did our West Coast tour. We really loved it and there was a special ceremony going on in the main open area by the pagoda. There were peace trees erected where people could hang their written messages. Our favourite food was the teppanyaki grill.

  12. What a lovely experience and photos Carola! Although I do enjoy Japanese culture very much, I have never been there. And since my hubby is not a fan of the food, I have not had very many opportunities to try it... one of these days...

  14. It's funny that I'm reading this today, Carola, because just last evening we ate at Wagamama in Amsterdam, one of our favorite Japanese restaurants of all time. If you don't know about it, Google it. It's headquartered in the UK and has only one franchise in the States (Boston), but would make a killing if they spread out everywhere, especially in college towns!

Once again, I LOVE the imnages you take. You have such a good eye for composition. You inspire me.
