The Great Horned Owls babies are six weeks old now.
They were both sitting on the nest when I arrived this morning. One of them was tired and hopped into the nest to take a nap. The other one, however, felt more like exploring the area right next to the nest.
It hopped onto the nearest limb.
Oh - it needed to poop!
Innocent look afterwards...
... and some decent yawning.
Look at this big foot!!!
The wings were tested as well - they won't stay in the nest much longer anymore.
And as always, Mom is close by keeping an eye or two on the youngsters.
Oh my....their feet are rather huge!! I had no idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat - that you get to watch these babies grow!
wow. that is so cool... great shots of their behavior!
ReplyDeleteI have been following the owl story but not commented - I have really loved watching with you
ReplyDeleteAce photography, really does tell the story...

What big babies! and what a good mom.
ReplyDeletethey are adorable... I'd want to scavenge the ground below the nest to look for any loose feather... have you done that yet?
