However, I started a new canvas; it will be another girl, one who loves dogs. I have no idea how to paint dogs, but since this is mixed media anyway I will probably get help in form of stickers etc. It will work out somehow.
I think I need to tone down the colors a little bit, it looks too busy to me, but perhaps that will already be different when I will have finished the girl figure. She is still pretty raw and very "innocent".
This is my entry for the wonderful Paint Party Friday and I also link this to Jennifer's Studio Sneak Peek.

My cats like joining in with the gardening too!
ReplyDeleteLooking good so far - lovely layered background.
Love it. I like the brightness for a girl who likes dogs.

Working in the garden is hard work! =) The canvas is looking beautiful! Can't wait to see it all come together.
ReplyDeleteNice! I too like the layered background.
ReplyDeleteGreat background and look forward to seeing it complete. Enjoy the weekend, Annette x
ReplyDeleteLove all the layers here... can't wait to see a puppy join here! :) Hey... your studio can totally be your garden! I would love to see it. I love gardening! ♥
ReplyDeleteIt looks great so far. It's coming to life. Step by step. Have a great weekend.

Carola ... I think you are off to a very good start. I love the colors, wouldn't tone it down yet. Your girl is looking good - is that real denim? Girl who loves dogs could be me ... give her long brown, flowing crazy hair (I used to have that). Seriously, looking forward to your end result. Enjoy the journey!
ReplyDeleteI adore painting, it is so freeing. So fun to see what you are creating and all that you are involved in, you are a very creative person I can tell!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful start here, I like the bright colors. They work well I think.
ReplyDeletethis is looking good. wishing you the best with a dog~
ReplyDeleteThe dog will be cute...I just have that feeling! :-) Looking good. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteNice work. Would love to see the finished piece. Well Done! ;)
ReplyDeleteI really like your girls! And this background is so rich (as always!) - thanks so much for coming by my place! I think it is so funny that she loves the ladies and the handcrafts...most of them are in the age range of 70 to 90! And they do the BEST handwork!
ReplyDeleteBlessings...
Can't wait to see your art finished, but the garden comes first. I have been fighting bamboo all week! Yuck. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how this turns out...see you next week :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that background so far! The girl is looking great...keep it going layer by layer. It's looking fantastic! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderfully inspirational to see works in progress, look forward to the finished piece ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun start - I love the denim you used for the jeans! I can't wait to see it finished :)

I especially like the background.
ReplyDeleteI haven't checked out how to draw dogs but I'm sure somewhere out there in never never land of internet is someone that's shows you how to draw a doggie and if not, stickers will do just fine and you can add some textures and paint to make the dog look like its painted. So far I like what you have done.
ReplyDeleteI really like where this is heads- personally I really like all the color- it provides a wonderful flow of energy to the piece! Can't wait to see the dog:)
ReplyDeleteMy cats consider it their duty to help me in the garden too!
I love working in my garden as well and it always inspires me to do some art. Love mixed media and yours is looking great!
ReplyDeleteGreat beginning! Isn't is fun how art is like gardening? Fist the seed (idea) gets planted (sketch, throw paint around, get started) then it sprouts and grows..... Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing how this progresses. I am slightly obsessed with dogs and they usually crop up in my drawings somewhere so I'd love to see how you get on if you do draw one rather than use a sticker. I like the bright colours so far.
ReplyDeleteI think this looks great so far. I think with more layers the background will be just fine.
ReplyDeleteI love gardening, too, but it's been so rainy that I've only been able to fit in bit here and there.
Glad you have been enjoying the fresh air and some feline company. And your little person is just waiting to burst into life with that zingy background!
ReplyDeleteI love what I see so far. Can't wait to see if finished!
ReplyDeleteI believe you are into something...keep going!
ReplyDeleteI really like the background and the girl being NOT so bright.
ReplyDeleteLooks like she's coming along. I like her stance. One can already see the smile on her face. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI`m so hoping the garden doesnt overwhelm my painting efforts in the weeks to come. So much weeding....
ReplyDeleteGreat WIP!
Nice layered background. The girl is looking lively.
