Girlfriends

It's Kaefer's birthday on Easter, and a day later she will have four of her girlfriends over - so convenient that there is no school this Monday (one of those darn furlough days the State of California has ordered for the current school year). It will be a pretty low key "party" - there will be a scavenger hunter, cake and just time for the girls to hang out and do whatever they like. A good start for the teenage years!

There won't be "goodie bags" or anything like that, but the girls each will get a "girl tag" as a party favor to take home. I've tried to represent each girl in her tag by the color of her shirt and her hair. I liked painting their hair the best, and I mainly used Golden fluid acrylics for that. And of course, those of you who are regular visitors to my blog certainly recognize some She Art here!

And since it's Friday, I'm linking this to Paint Party Friday and Sneak Peek Friday. These are all wonderful artists, and you can find some amazing art work on their blogs. Go and take a peek!

  3. Excellent idea for the girl tags, Carola.
I had to laugh, because this reminds me of a party some twenty years ago, when a friend of mine (now a blogger, too) asked my young brother Rob and his friend Trevor (then college students) to attend her daughter's fifth birthday party to do caricatures of the guests.
"Oh, no, Kay," Rob whispered to me. "Look at them. We can't caricature their faces! All 5-year-old girls look the same!"
So the young artists asked each little girl whether she had a pet, and what things she liked to do, then personalized each portrait with dogs, cats, bicycles, dolls, sports equipment, etc.
Artists have to improvise when it's necessary, or, as you have done, before it becomes necessary! Good thinking!

  17. These are wonderful! And a very timely idea for me...my tweener is having a birthday this coming week - tho' the actual slumber party will be later...but these would be great little things to have for the girls - and show them that others are seeing the people they are becoming!

So glad you shared all the planned activities...I might be a big copy cat here!

    Bleassings on your Easter weekend!

  18. Your tags are so very cute Carola. The girls will treasure them. I wouldn't worry about Diana's comment "After the boys get involved, it gets pretty crazy". I have a daughter, and didn't have any trouble. It all depends on your parenting. Just enjoy this time with your daughter, because it's gone in the blink of an eye. Have a very Happy Easter and a wonderful time on Monday with the girls and Kaefer. Give her a birthday hug from me.

  21. What a fab idea for favors! I love that my kids are old enough now that the party is the "favor" and I don't have to spend all that time planning :) I used to go a little crazy over it- I remember one year, I made personalized bubble wands with copper wire, beads and dowels.....
These are VERY cool and I'm sure will be treasured over the years.
Happy PPF (a day late ;))

  25. How cool to just have a small intimate party of friends where the girls can really enjoy each other and really connect. Great idea with the tags. Reminds me of years ago when I'd get together with my girlfriends for sleepovers and we'd always have blank journals that we called "autograph books"...yeah I know...back in the day. But the best part was that at the end of the weekend we'd all take the time to sign each others books and write a personal message about how much fun the time together was. Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend as well. Fondly, Roberta
