Last night, when I couldn't sleep, I decided that it is time to move on. This was a horrifying week, and I sincerely hope that it was the worst week in 2011. A HUGE thank you to all of you for your comments, prayers and e-mails - this has been so much help, and I know that one day Katie's family will feel the same gratitude for this wonderful community as I do (they already do).
But I think it is time to move on - and I'm convinced that this is exactly what Katie would like us to do, living life to the fullest just as she did.
I visited Inspiration Avenue just to check what their weekly challenge is, and it's an easy one - about color. Which is my color? Well, of course it's
Orange is bold and bright, daring and full of life, feisty and fun. It doesn't always fit in and it doesn't get along with everyone. It brightens up a dark place and is the light in spooky times. It's earthy and strong, powerful and magical; warm and welcoming. It stands out, is different. But it is also maturity and wisdom combined with playfulness, though sometimes plain silly.
I need more orange in my life, and I'm determined to get it!
Dear Carola,
ReplyDeleteI just read the story about Katie...it is beyond comprehension and I am so sorry that this has happened...What a senseless death and such suffering...
I am truly sorry to hear this story and I just pray that Katie is in a better place...
That uncle was absolutely crazy and I can't imagine such a thing...I also can't even imagine what you have been through being so close to this sad situation...
I pray for God to lift you up as well as all her family.
Love,
Cindy
I love it .. you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteOh what a sad story about Katie. I pray for her family and friends what you must all be going thru. So sorry. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteI love your description of orange. Love the artwork.
Gorgeous bright piece, Carola!
ReplyDeleteHey there
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your friend. I have seen that on the news a lot.
Love your art work awesome.
Glad you came to IA and found inspiration to create!!!
I agree with you ...orange is everything you said and I love it.
ReplyDeleteI love orange it accompanies the red in my lounge, some would think it too much but I love the energy of red and the zest of orange.
ReplyDeleteWhen you think about Katie let it be in the warm orange light of the sun.
Namaste

WEll you could not have picked a better color...orange is a fabulous color to brighten anyone´s outlook and surroundings.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better.
I just read the story of Katie too. Horrible, senseless tragedy! And now the shootings in Arizona--why is there so much hate in the world? I'm just hoping we can all do our part to spread more love and joy.
ReplyDeleteYour orange creation is full of energy and hope. Thanks for your comments on my blog.
I had to take a few minutes and read about Katie. How senseless. I hope the uncle is in jail and get what he deserves. What a horrible thing to have happened to such a beautiful young lady, who had her entire life ahead of her.
ReplyDeleteI know how this must have affected you. I know there's something about loss that just can't be defined. It haunts you, even when you think you've cried all you can.
I am glad you posted this. It is a lovely challenge piece and is possibly just what you needed to help you out of the fog of pain. Thank you for sharing this and Katie's story.
I know what I want to say. But I can't say it. Please know that prayers continue.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Orange is a powerful and energetic colour
ReplyDeletelove this page..orange is a very energising colour and a healing one too. I am so sorry about your recent tragic loss
ReplyDeleteFull of Life!
ReplyDeletePerfect.
I am sorry for the pain you feel.
But I love how you are brave 8)

I didn't make the IA challenge this week but I sure like your entry. Orange is not a color I usually go to but you have made me think I should give it a try.
